The energy from the NightLase laser is delivered throughout the airway tissues and heats it evenly. The wavelength with which the laser heats the tissues is used specifically for contracting and remolding your collagen fibers and forming new, young collagen fibers. This tightens the oropharyngeal tissues, significantly elevates the soft palate and uvula, and lowers the back of the tongue. Thus, the airway opens up more in area and volume.
At Physimed MediSpa, we can provide you with an objective measure of the improvement in snoring you get with this treatment. We can map the amplitude of your snoring to give a quantifiable answer to how much your snoring will reduce from the session.
Research demonstrates that NightLase is highly successful in improving patient’s sleep patterns and can effectively reduce snoring non-invasively.
The typical procedure plan involves 3 separate treatments within 2 months. Many patients report noticeable reduction of snoring and improvement of sleep after one treatment.
The result will be a happy partner. She or he can sleep soundly and properly in the same bedroom as yourself.
During the procedure, energy from a non-ablative Erb:Yag laser is delivered to the targeted areas of the soft palate, uvula, tonsil area, oropharynx, and oftentimes the base of the tongue. This laser treatment lasts for around 25 minutes.
Patients who suffer from snowing should consider NightLase. Snoring has consequences that can negatively impact a snorer’s life, and their sleep partner. Sleep deprivation is common among snorers, which negatively affects health and quality of life by causing tiredness, morning headaches, irritability, dry mouth, and relationship difficulties. Patients at risk of sleep apnea should also consider the NightLase laser treatment.
This treatment is specific to snoring. The areas treated are in the mouth; they and include the soft palate and structures of the oropharynx.
NightLase therapy for snoring is safe and virtually painless. There is no downtime and no long-term complications. The only side-effects are minimal, such as slight dryness in the throat for a few hours, but this is very rare.
For maintenance, we recommend getting a ‘Collagen Boost Treatment’ every 9-12 months.
There are currently 3 main procedures that target snoring.
1. Surgery can treat snoring with potentially significant risks; side effects may include bleeding and infection, and scarring is possible.
2. Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD) are dental devices or splints for the mouth that are worn overnight while sleeping. Patients find them uncomfortable, they can cause ulceration of the gums, and they can reposition the teeth and alter your bite with extended use.
3. The CPAP Machine is currently the ‘Gold Standard’ sleep apnea treatment and is very effective for stopping snoring. However, it is cumbersome to use.
Following both MAD and CPAP treatments will show a significant improvement in a patient’s snoring and apnea symptoms over time. However, many patients cannot tolerate these devices. The NightLase treatment offers a quick, not painful, and effective solution to snoring.
