Microdermabrasion allows for the physical exfoliation of several layers of the superficial skin (epidermis), leaving your skin fresh and smooth.
The outermost layers of the skin are rubbed away by a diamond tipped wand and are suctioned away allowing for increased blood flow and oxygen transfer to the area. Once the skin’s surface is disrupted, cell division occurs which stimulates a mild fibroblast activity leading to increased collagen production.
The result is brighter skin, with a more even tone and smoother texture.
Microdermabrasion is a great treatment for cleaning out the pores. It also improves the performance of your skin-care regimen by allowing products to penetrate the skin more easily.
The procedure is relatively quick, ranging anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
Microdermabrasion works to brighten and smooth skin.
Results are temporary, lasting only about two to four weeks.

You’ll need more than one session for optimal results.
The treatment takes less than an hour and downtime is minimal to nonexistent.
It’s normal for the skin to become pink, tight, or dry following a microdermabrasion procedure. These subtle side effects should subside over the next day, with the use of a gentle moisturizer.
In the next few weeks, your skin may be more sensitive, so it’s important to use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Most people can be good candidates for microdermabrasion, but those with sensitive skin or active acne should abstain from the procedure.
Microdermabrasion is also not recommended for people with undiagnosed skin lesions, facial warts, autoimmune disorders, or uncontrolled diabetes.
Microdermabrasion is primarily done on the face.
Microdermabrasion is a safe, noninvasive procedure for patients of any age, and for most skin types and tones. Side effects are almost nonexistent, but you might experience some very mild swelling, tenderness, or redness for a few hours after your treatment.
In order to maintain a healthy and youthful look, it is recommended to do a series of microdermabrasion treatments a month apart or bimonthly.
Chemical peels and micro-laser peels can be very good alternatives to exfoliate the superficial skin and promote increased cell turnover.
