Micro-needling with Plasma
Why Micro-needling Is the Next Big Thing in Skin Care
SUMMARY
During a micro needling and Plasma procedure, also known as a vampire facial, our micro-needling device is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin's repair process can help smooth lines and wrinkles, even skin tone, refine pores, tighten skin, and fade scars and stretch marks. A Plasma treatment is then applied to heighten that repair.

Automated micro-needling is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the improvement of the skin’s texture, tone and colour. During this procedure, our micro-needling device is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a healthier epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. Our micro-needling also creates micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums like Plasma to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.
The procedure can help smooth lines and wrinkles, even your skin tone, refine your pores, tighten skin, and fade scars and stretch marks.
Though it’s mostly used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, micro-needling can be used all over the body.
Micro-needling can also be combined with plasma that’s derived from your own blood for a more potent treatment, sometimes called a vampire facial. It’s more expensive but delivers better results, quicker healing, and more of an anti-aging punch.
Micro-needling creates thousands of tiny injuries in the skin’s surface. Like some lasers, it’s a form of fractional treatment, which means only a fraction of the skin’s surface is affected. The undamaged skin helps in the healing process of the damaged skin. This allows for rapid healing and a short recovery time.
You should notice an immediate “glow” to your skin and a difference in your skin texture a week after your first treatment. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.
Most patients first notice a significant reduction in pore size and an improvement of acne scars or deeper wrinkles after just three treatments.
To achieve optimal results, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 4-8 weeks apart. For patients with more significant skin-care concerns, such as acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.
We will apply a topical anesthetic to the areas you’re having treated 45 minutes prior to the procedure. Once you’re numb, we will clean your skin before applying an active serum, which is either a hyaluronic acid or your own PRP, to allow the micro-needling device to glide over it.
Our micro-needling device contains a disposable sterile needle cartridge containing 12 needles. Once numb, we will move the spring-loaded devices across your skin in a single continuous motion, “stamping” the needles in. Our micro-needling pen has an adjustable head that customizes the depth of the needle pricks. For example, the skin on your forehead is much thinner than the skin on your cheeks, so we’d start at about 0.5 mm and may go as deep as 2.0 mm over the cheeks, deep scars or stretch marks.
While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable.
Afterwards, we’ll apply a customized serum, like PRP or a cooling mask, to help reduce redness and speed your recovery.
The procedure can take 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
Recovery is short – you’ll leave looking a little bit red and have some pinpoint scabs which will disappear quickly. You may have minimal redness over the next few days that can be covered with makeup. It’s important to protect your skin from the sun; mineral powder sunscreens are usually permitted.
Micro-needling is safe to use on all skin tones. If you are looking to improve the texture of your skin, smooth lines and wrinkles, even your skin tone, refine your pores, tighten your skin, or fade scars and stretch marks, micro-needling may be for you.
Our micro-needling device can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
Micro-needling is considered quite safe with no real side effects. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun post-treatment, so you’ll need to avoid direct UV exposure.
It’s not recommended for anyone with active skin conditions like eczema or rosacea.
To keep up micro-needling results, people with younger skin will need maintenance every 6 to 12 months, and patients over 40 and those with heavily sun-damaged skin will need touch-ups every three to four months. The depth of micro-needling and the use of PRP also guides the frequency of treatments.
Laser resurfacing and Morpheus8 could be great alternatives to micro-needling.
