Treatments for pigmented lesions
(Sun spots, moles, & age spots on face and body)
As we age, it’s common to have brown spots appearing on the face and body. These spots are typically caused by too much pigment (melanin) concentrated in one area of the skin. They come in many different forms, including freckles, age spots, moles, melasma, and actinic keratoses. There are several different treatments which may address these concerns.
IPL treatment
Photo-rejuvenation for spots on the face
IPL, or intense pulsed light, is a versatile photo-rejuvenation treatment that can improve a range of issues on the face, hands, neck, and chest, including brown spots, broken capillaries, and rosacea. This intense pulse energy also stimulates collagen and elastin production, which may help improve fine lines and wrinkles and shrink enlarged pores. After a single treatment, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of their skin.
Ablative laser resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing for dark spot
Laser skin resurfacing is a nonsurgical procedure that heats up the deeper layers of the superficial skin (epidermis), causing microdamage and triggering the body’s healing response. As the skin regenerates, its tone and texture improves dramatically. Laser skin resurfacing can remove nearly all fine wrinkles while significantly reducing deeper wrinkles. Think of it as sanding your wooden floors at home to make them look like new. The laser beam gently vaporizes micron-thin layers of the epidermis while thermally affecting deeper skin layers to stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis.
Medical grade chemical peels
Peels for even skin
The human skin is the largest organ in the human body and is exposed to UV sun damage, pollution, and the natural aging process. Chemical peels in conjunction with microdermabrasion is a great starting point to achieving your desire for younger- and healthier-looking skin. Depending on the type and concentration of the solution applied on your skin, peels can affect different depths of the skin (superficiel, mid level, and deep) giving you more dramatic results the deeper you go at the expense of more downtime.
Liquid nitrogen
LN for spots on the skin
Liquid Nitrogen (LN) is used as a treatment for removing freckles, pigment spots, and warts from any area of the body. All that is involved is the application of liquid nitrogen (a very cold liquid similar to dry ice) on the area to be treated for a few seconds. This may have to be repeated once or twice over the following weeks if pigmentation is deep.
