INVASIVENESS
Non-invasive
Laser energy is used to heat the tissues of the airway causing a tightening effect which helps to keep your airway open. Heating of these tissues at a very specific wavelength causes a contraction and remolding of existing collagen fibers, formation of new youthful collagen fibers, leading to a tightening of the oropharyngeal tissues and visible elevation of the soft palate and uvula, as well as a lowering of the back of the tongue. This results in an overall improvement in the upper airway openingarea and volume.
At our clinic, we like to give our patients objective and quantifiable results. We are able to objectively track the amplitude of your snoring and demonstrate to you how much you will improve during your treatment.
NightLase has a high success rate in producing a positive change in sleep patterns. Research has shown that NightLase can significantly reduce snoring and provides an effective, non-invasive way to lessen the effects of snoring.
Typically, a full course of NightLase consists of three separate treatment sessions over a two month period. Quite a few patients have shown significant improvement after the first treatment.
As a result, you will certainly make your partner happy because he or she will be able to sleep soundly again, and for those who sleep in separate bedrooms because of a snoring issue, you will be able to return to your own bedroom and sleep properly with your partner.

The treatment involves application of laser energy via a non-ablative Erb:Yag laser to carefully targeted areas of the soft palate, uvula, tonsil area, and oropharynx. The base of the tongue is usually also treated. This laser is applied for approximately 25 minutes to the targeted areas.
If snoring is negatively impacting your sleep or your partner’s sleep or if it is putting you at risk of sleep apnea, you may be a good candidate for NightLase.
The areas targeted are the soft palate and the structures of the oropharynx around it.
NightLase treatment is practically pain-free with no downtime and no long term complications.
The vast majority of patients experience no side-effects at all.
Rarely, a few people might experience some minor issues such as a mild dryness of the throat that usually goes away within a few hours.
We recommend one ‘Collagen Boost Treatment’ every 9-12 months to maintain your results.
Alternative Procedures:
Surgery
This has the potential for significant side effects, including bleeding and infection.
Scarring and associated problems can occur.
Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD):
These dental devices or splints are placed in the mouth while sleeping.
These are uncomfortable to wear, can cause ulceration of the gums or even lead to repositioning of the teeth and an altered bite.
CPAP Machine :
This very effective ‘Gold Standard’ treatment for sleep apnea also stops snoring, but is cumbersome to use.
Compliance with both MAD and CPAP treatment modalities shows a significant reduction over time. A lot of patients cannot tolerate them.
